What is involved in Laser Hair Removal
We use state-of-the-art laser hair removal technology creating a gentle treatment with minimal downtime for hair reduction, skin discolouration and small unwanted blood vessels.
Here is a bit more about what is involved in the process, how long it takes and what you can expect overall from the procedure.
What is involved in the laser hair removal process?
Before treatment, we ensure you are not sunburned, tanned or have waxed, otherwise the treatment will not be as effective or it may need to be delayed. The hair is shaven and then laser hair removal is treated by lightly pressing the hand operated laser handpiece from the Gentle Max Pro onto the treatment area. A cooling device is used to ensure your comfort and the treatment is quite fast.
How does it work?
The pulses are absorbed by the hair follicles and the heat emitted from the laser damages the hair follicles, stopping further hair growth. There are 3 cycles of hair growth to cover, so multiple visits are required at regularly timed intervals.
How many sessions does it take?
This can vary depending on the area being treated and your skin type. Usually around 4 – 6 sessions is the minimum requirement, with a maintenance program established after the initial sessions, depending on the hair growth history and location.
What colour range of hair can you remove? Is there any it won’t work on?
Brown and black hair have great results due to the brown pigment in the follicle. There is less success with red, however our laser hair therapist will advise on this. Blonde or white hair is not able to be treated at this time.
Is there any downtime required following treatment?
There is usually no significant downtime, some mild redness is expected for 24 hours.
Are there any risks?
There may be some redness, swelling or tenderness of the region initially. There is a rare risk of blistering or hyperpigmentation.
